After the Dallas Mavericks opened a 14-point lead in the first quarter Wednesday, the Atlanta Hawks flipped a switch and rolled to a 104-87 win.
Dennis Schroder came off the bench to lead the hosts with 17 points. Monta Ellis scored a game-high 19 for Dallas, but Dirk Nowitzkimanaged just four points.
The Mavs limped into the game without the services of Chandler Parsons (ankle), Tyson Chandler (hip) and Rajon Rondo (suspension). They scored 34 points in a frenetic first quarter—which also saw saw multiple issues with the game clock and even a leaky roof raining on the court—then totaled just 34 points from the second and third quarters combined.
